Rockfon® Hygienic™

The ceiling tiles in the Hygienic range have been developed to meet the most stringent demands on hygiene and cleanability. Coupled with longevity, durability and high sound absorption, these high performance tiles are suitable for clean room type environments

Hygienic products have a durable and special coated white surface providing high waterrepellence and low dirt pick-up. Their 100 % stone wool core provides no sustenance to harmful micro-organisms.

All products in the Hygienic range will withstand frequent cleaning and will not continue dripping after the cleaning process has taken place, thus minimising downtime. Hygienic will withstand frequent low or highpressure washing.

Technical data

Sound absorption

Sound absorption is measured in accordance with ISO 354. Sound absorption data αp, αw and absorption class are calculated in accordance with ISO 11654. Sound absorption properties of islands and baffles are quantified by the equivalent sound absorption area AT expressed in m2/item.

Reaction to fire

Reaction to fire is classified in accordance with EN 13501-1.

The fire protection properties of ROCKFON ceilings have been tested and classified in accordance with European norm EN 13501-2 and/or national norms depending on requirements in national building codes.

Light reflection

Light reflection expressed in % is measured in accordance with ISO 7724-2.

Humidity and sag resistance

ROCKFON ceiling tiles are dimensionally stable even at humidity levels of up to 100% relative humidity and can be installed at all temperatures ranging from 0°C to 40°C. They can be installed during the very early stage of the build (when windows are not fully sealed). No acclimatisation is necessary.

Cleaning

Vacuum: The surface can be vacuum cleaned with a soft brush attachment.

Damp cloth: The surface can be cleaned using a damp cloth or sponge with a slightly alkaline detergent (pH between 7 and 9) without alcohol, ammonia or chlorine. This may render the surface slightly shinier, so we recommend cleaning the entire surface evenly.

Dry steam: Twice a year

Low pressure: Low pressure foam cleaning

High pressure: Max. 80 bar, min. 1 metre distance, water spread at 30° angle. The tiles should be clipped and sealed into the grid with a silicone sealant containing fungicide.

Chemical resistance: Resistant to diluted solutions of ammonia, chlorine, quaternary ammonium and hydrogen peroxide

Surface durability

The surface of some ROCKFON products is specially treated to provide enhanced durability and dirt resistance.

Hygiene

Stone wool provides no sustenance to the following microorganisms tested in accordance with JIS Z 2801:2000 and ASTM C 1338-96:

  • Eschericia coli
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
  • Stachybotrys chartarum
  • Penicillium brevicumpactum
  • Alternaria tenuissima
  • Aspergillus niger
  • Sporobolomyces roseum
  • Rhodotorula rubra
