Rockfon® Sonar® dB 42

Sonar dB 42 is made of two sound absorbing layers of stone wool with a high-performance membrane in between.

The first stone wool layer (25mm) absorbs sound from the room itself and with the high-performance membrane, it reduces the transmission of sound from room to room. The stone wool layer on the back (15mm) absorbs sound in the ceiling void coming from adjacent rooms and the floor above.

This "sandwich" construction offers a high level of sound insulation as well as absorption and is well-suited where confidentiality is important.

Sonar dB 42 has a micro-textured surface, is easy to cut, and with its light weight of 7,0 kg/m² is easy to install.

Technical data

Sound absorption

Sound absorption is measured in accordance with ISO 354. Sound absorption data αp, αw and absorption class are calculated in accordance with ISO 11654. Sound absorption properties of islands and baffles are quantified by the equivalent sound absorption area AT expressed in m2/item.

Room to room sound insulation

Room-to-room sound insulation Dn,f,w is measured in accordance with ISO 10848-2.

Direct sound insulation

Sound reduction index Rw is measured in accordance with ISO 140-3.

Reaction to fire

Reaction to fire is classified in accordance with EN 13501-1.

The fire protection properties of ROCKFON ceilings have been tested and classified in accordance with European norm EN 13501-2 and/or national norms depending on requirements in national building codes.

Light reflection

Light reflection expressed in % is measured in accordance with ISO 7724-2.

Humidity and sag resistance

ROCKFON ceiling tiles are dimensionally stable even at humidity levels of up to 100% relative humidity and can be installed at all temperatures ranging from 0°C to 40°C. They can be installed during the very early stage of the build (when windows are not fully sealed). No acclimatisation is necessary.

Cleaning

Vacuum: Surface can be vacuum cleaned with a soft brush attachment.

Damp cloth: Surface can be cleaned using a damp cloth or sponge with a slightly alkaline detergent (pH between 7 and 9) without alcohol, ammonia or chlorine. This may render the surface slightly shinier, so we recommend cleaning the entire surface evenly.

Resistance to diluted solutions: The surface resists diluted solutions of ammonia, chlorine, quaternary ammonium and hydrogen peroxide

Hygiene

Stone wool provides no sustenance to the following microorganisms tested in accordance with JIS Z 2801:2000 and ASTM C 1338-96:

  • Eschericia coli
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
  • Stachybotrys chartarum
  • Penicillium brevicumpactum
  • Alternaria tenuissima
  • Aspergillus niger
  • Sporobolomyces roseum
  • Rhodotorula rubra

Environment

Indoor environment

Thermal insulation

Thermal conductivity of products with a thickness ≥ 30mm is measured in accordance with EN 12667 and expressed in mW/mK. Thermal resistance is expressed in m2K/W.
